Karli Johonnot earned her doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of Hartford’s Graduate Institute of Professional Psychology, with a generalist degree with a specialization in children and adolescents.

Karli’s clinical experience includes working with children, adolescents, adults, and families across a variety of settings (i.e., outpatient to hospital level of care). She has worked with individuals struggling with various difficulties, including but not limited to anxiety, depression, adjustment disorder, posttraumatic stress disorder, attachment disruption, developmental and complex trauma, and personality disorders. Additionally, she has experience working with individuals with significant trauma histories as well as individuals with intellectual disabilities, lower-cognitive functioning, and/or autism. Karli is passionate about sexuality and gender and enjoys working with individuals who identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community.

 

Her practice integrates evidence-based practices (i.e., Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy) to help clients build a more whole sense of self. Karli prioritizes multiculturalism and believes a client’s cultural context is essential when conceptualizing and providing treatment. She strives to foster a safe space for her clients to explore his/her/hir current thoughts, feelings, emotions, behaviors, and relationships. The treatment that Karli provides is individualized to the unique needs of every client, meeting them where they are at and moving at an appropriate and comfortable pace.  In her free time, you will find Karli hiking a trail with her adventurous dog, Aspen, or watching a Duke game.
