Licensed Psychologist

Director of  Coaching Services

Dr. Karli Johonnot  was appointed the Director of Emotive Knowledge Psychology’s Coaching Services in September 2020. Karli simply brings a most rare combination of compassion and competitive drive to the coaching director's position. Since graduating from high school as class valedictorian, Karli has compiled an extensive academic record within the areas of clinical psychology and social science, having been on the NCAA All-Honors Academic Team in 2012, 2014, and 2016, in addition to being on the ACC All-Honors Academic Team from 2012 – 2016.

Karli graduated from Duke University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology as well as a master’s degree in Art and Liberal Studies (MALS). She then went on to complete her second master’s in Clinical Psychology and doctoral training at the University of Hartford. Karli received her doctorate in Clinical Psychology (PsyD) in 2021, and has plans to continue her career as a clinical psychologist in Southern California. Nonetheless, Karli is passionate about overseeing coaching services due to the additional help and support that it can provide to clients extending outside of the therapy room. Her favorite part about therapeutic coaching is its structure, which includes a coaching and motivational mentality combined with a teamwork approach. Karli has spent many years working in the community as either an aide or coach and has also been an assistant coach for a D1 track and field program. In addition to her above accolades, Karli herself earned Second-Team All-American Honors when she was a collegiate athlete. Furthermore, she's still Duke University's current record holder in the Indoor Women’s Pentathlon (4304) 2012 – Present, and the school record holder in the Indoor Women’s High Jump (1.82m) from 2014 – 2021.

While her academic achievements are quite impressive, what really helps to make her the ideal therapeutic coaching director is her record of volunteer service that has been dedicated to special needs children and their families, and her service in this area that continues to this day. The parents of some of her former clients would report that she works in such a disarming and seamless manner that they often see Karli as a treasured family member.

Her primary role as Director is to supervise coaches and their clients to make sure that each client’s needs are being successfully met. Karli believes that everyone can achieve their goals if they are given the resources and support needed to overcome life’s biggest challenges. Karli understands the obstacles that can arise in today’s world, especially when having to deal with the difficulties of mental health on top of it. Karli’s goal as the Director of Coaching Services is to support coaches and clients through the utilization of a well-developed, organized, and collaborative framework in meeting their greatest goals.
