Dr. Hélène Farr

Dr. Farr graduated from Pepperdine University Graduate School of Education and Psychology’s clinical psychology doctoral program. She completed her APA pre-doctoral internship at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte’s Counseling Center where she provided psychological counseling and crisis management to culturally diverse clients with a wide range of issues and ages. She obtained a Master of Arts in Psychology degree at Pepperdine University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Social Behavior degree at the University of California at Irvine.
Dr. Farr is passionate about empowering her clients to achieve their best selves. She uses Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), and psychological assessment to develop individualized treatments promoting her clients’ wellbeing. Her approach is strength-based and collaborative. She believes that trust, respect, and feeling heard and worthy of happiness are at the base of long-lasting changes for her clients. She specializes in treating depression, anxiety, grief and loss, issues related to relationships, life transitions, culture, identity, self-esteem, sexual trauma, PTSD, and childhood abuse.
During the course of her training, Dr. Farr provided counseling and psychological assessment in a variety of settings including Augustus F. Hawkins Family Health Center, Santa Monica Community College’s Counseling Center, Shields for Families, Inc, the University of California at Irvine’s Medical Center in Orange, and Pepperdine University’s Community Center in Irvine. She conducted research examining physical markers of depression in the brain at the University of California at Irvine. She volunteered as a victim’s advocate and hotline responder for the Sexual Assault Victim Services of Orange County.
Dr. Farr’s years in different countries, life experiences, and training have contributed in shaping her into a compassionate and open-minded therapist. She is a registered Psychological Assistant working under the license and supervision of Dr. Summerlin.
